Alumni Scholarship

Impacting the lives of Mather High School students.

Established in 2000 by the Class of 1965 as a gateway to the new millennium, this scholarship has already had an impact on the lives of many Mather High School students. The Mather High School Alumni Fund annually offers one $8,000 scholarship payable in $2,000 increments over four years. In addition, we grant $500 special awards when funds are available. A scholarship that provides financial backing beyond the first year gives the students’ confidence that they have the support to sustain themselves through their final years of college. In addition, these recipients enjoy the continued support and mentoring of alumni.

Since the inception of the Mather High School Alumni Scholarship two memorial scholarship funds have been established ...

The Linda Sulkin-Hack Scholarship

When Linda passed away in April of 2015, I began trying to think of ways to keep her memory alive while helping others. Mather immediately came to mind. Linda graduated from Mather in 1976. Although Mather’s demographics have changed since then, the need to help others is still very prevalent. From volunteering at Literacy Plus and Little Brothers, Linda was always an advocate for helping others. I felt this was the best way to honor my beautiful Wife. I will continue to fund this every year as long as I am alive and have made arrangements for it to continue beyond that. I hope that the recipient(s) will benefit in some way, and perhaps help them prepare for the years ahead.  ~ Robert Hack

The Patricia Ann “Pat” McAvoy Memorial Scholarship

Pat McAvoy was an inspirational educator, generous mentor, and loving friend to students, teachers and staff at Mather High School. We have established the Patricia Ann “Pat” McAvoy Memorial Scholarship in her memory to inspire future generations to pursue their educational dreams. This scholarship will provide financial assistance to outstanding students for years to come. This scholarship began with the Class of 2020.

Donations from the alumni have already made it possible to award $223,500.00 in scholarships since the start of this program.  You can support this important program by making a donation on-line. Watch this video to learn about the recipients of the 2021 scholarships.

All scholarship funds are paid directly to the college chosen by the individual student. Students interested in applying for the Mather High School Alumni scholarship must be a graduating member of the Mather High School Class of the current graduation year who is planning to attend a four-year college or university. Members of the Alumni Scholarship Evaluation Committee will determine recipients based upon the students' overall academic record and the merits of the student's written essay.
